Design for the zine “It’s a queer takeover of the city, but only for 15 minutes” by the artist Irène Mélix. Through a series of interviews conducted by the artist during Pride in Split (Croatia), the work explores local queer lives and spaces. This forms the basis for a video work and the zine which collects stories that are seldom heard, entering the realm of alternative knowledge and memories that correct omissions in official history. Irène Mélix focuses on the queer community’s memory and archive, questioning how to discuss queer pasts with limited traces, write history, record existence, and envision queer futures from a fragmented history.
